actually your own opinion or actual facts. That information on PGCE you posted was totally incorrect but i could not be ass to explain to you. I reasoned that it was what you think rather than what you know. Good day to both and listen to the wise monkey....

No! If you even compare the two then you dont really know what you are saying! PGCE is specialised teaching diploma so you need to know first if the PGCE is related to Primary (teaching 6-11) and Secondary ( specialist subject 11-18) You seem to think
that if you got a PGCE then that should be OK to teach in International schools and language schools? Why would a Language School want to employ you if you teach Secondary PE? or Primary if the age group is above ? Coz the PGCE is not related? Why would an international school employ you if they are looking for a maths teacher and you teach PE? like I said it was opinion and not factual information!

Didnt see the PGCEi discussion. Looks interesting. But Id say the utility depends on your situation and aspirations. If you are looking for a full time teaching career with progression into management and some serious pay, go for the PGCEi, if you are
in ESL more for the experience and less fussed about getting into an international school, and dont want to fork out a fortune and spend a year training, go for the CELTA.
And yup, with a PGCE you also have to select a specialty, so be careful with that one: PE is probably not the best choice....

Seem like all the troll is comming out to bash me, which is really funny as I can't see them. Anyway, Tuan what make Native speaker and Certificate holder any better than a PGCE who is professional train to be a teacher? Who cares if they teach PE of
math in their home country.. they are a professional teacher with Experience. Not only I believe they are better train than certificate holder but most International School prefer those kind of people in its staff. This is not comming from me, but International school list that and require that.

True Scotty, but they also prefer a qualification in a related subject. A person who has trained to teach secondary school art will most likely NOT be hired to teach science over here....and as a post-grad qualification, isnt a PGCE regarded much like a Masters anyway? Im not sure on that one. Id like to hear from any teachers working in international schools on the subject...

The first training I did in Vietnam in 2004 was with Mai Linh Taxi. When I talked about gender equality, the response was "Husbands may not allow their wives to drive taxis because they will not be able to care for their children." I am very proud that there are many women taxi drivers now in Vietnam, not only at Mai Linh Taxi, but they were the first.

@AR I am not sure about the US but a Phd in the UK did not exist in HRM when I completed mine. Anyway I think in the UK a dissertation is for Masters if you do a research thesis its usually for Phd but funding is an issue because you usually need spon
sorship from a big company to do a research thesis on their behalf. I assume that they would need to see your credentials before they grant you funding. The HRM masters I did was more of a specialist professional qualification. more practical and less theory in its component. Hence the Employment Issues tag in the tittle. Hope thats help

Lol BW I think is the reverse in UK. I never did a Phd! I did a Masters and mine was a dissertation. Thesis is used for Phd

A thesis is supposed to be a demonstration of the application of existing knowledge. A dissertation is the original contribution to existing knowledge.
