There aren't enough railings in Vietnam for thieves. (Not condoning kidnapping)

Each kid tries even once to steal something... Not a reason to humiliate them this way... So stupid.

The question one should be asking: "Why would a 12 year old girl steal books?" Therein lies the fundamental problem.

Security in Vietnam must think they are higher than the police. I've seen at sailing club nha trang a girl get punched in the face by a male security officer for no justifiable reason.

I strongly condemn such humiliating action. We all make mistakes in our life even the more young people - she is only 12 years old. Who gives the employees the right to tie a child like this and take away her freedom?

people dont trust the police and the system shows no signs of justice. thats why people always apply self justice.. u see it happen everywhere but it merely finds its way to public.

How can you trust the police. When they are constantly trying to get bribe money. My shop in nha trang got broken into, I know who did it and the main officer ask for 2 million dong just to investigate.

Culture there is simple ...no emphasis on strict discipline as they considered this is normal minor thing ...they do not see the future implications to the next young generation ..their thinking is fragmented . Shoplifting is stealing and if the girl f
eels she is being humilitated why then she do this ...though the employees actions may not be pleasing ...is this her first time ?? fortunate she not living in an islamic country ...she will be a handicap with hands chopped off...

I am not sure in what century of human history you are living in but have you ever heard about child protection policies and laws? In my humble opinion, every child makes mistakes and learns from those. To bind up a 12 year old girl
outside the supermarket with a sign around her neck calling her thief is not acceptable under any circumstances and the people who committed this crime should be brought to justice.

That is the beauty of a free internet. Through the many critics about this case on Internet "Police had to step in" and do something.

If you spare the rod, you spoil the child. People must discipline children. They were trying to discipline the shoplifter. You want to find ways to press morality into people. If there are no consequences, then people will continue to do the crimes: they have less incentive to adjust
.
What one generation justifies/propagates, the next generation tolerates and endorses through the slippery slope of moral decline from one generation to the next
.
Things get worse, step by step, little by little, and things begin to rot before your very eyes.... think about the alternatives
.
What they did is as what Batman and Dexter does. When there is a lack of social justice, we should step-in: it does more help than harm: it does not lead to teen suicide but rather to potential for change for the future
