- Elizabeth Homfray Maybe it's the mum in me but I'm not sure that will do anything but make you feel better Matt Windom.
- Tuan Huynh Matt Windom its FB 's talk i dont think anyone literally and physically wanna fart on his head LOL
- Matt Windom I didnt say it tongue emoticon and Kristian Svk Somogyi youre getting pretty close to a eugenics arguement. Not that I totally disagree, but such things have led to bad things
- Tuan Huynh He is annoyingly insane if you ever had the misfortune of adding him previously as a friend thouhh...
- Matt Windom Still... Can you imagine seeing such things about you might be hurtful? Especially to someone you say is already unbalanced? I'm not calling anyone out but... It does seem like bullying
- Kavit Tural Sumud oh, Matt. go away. you haven't been here long enough to accurately comment on this.
- Matt Windom I'm not a troll Kavit Tural Sumud. I just don't like unnecessary meanness
- Elizabeth Homfray Maybe he has us all fooled and he's really New York based conceptual artist. And in a few years time all of our FB comments and his youtube videos will be part of an award winning documentary? LOL
- Tuan Huynh Jinx! Elizabeth that was sometimes in the back of my mind too... I am thinking is this guy for real? Is there genius in his madness?? But then I thought ...Naaaaaa!
- Tuan Huynh Its ok Kavit I am a troll so all trolls are always welcome on my thread wink emoticon the more the merrier....
- Elizabeth Homfray I just hope he doesn't end up as some sort of cautionary tale about people with mental illness travelling to places where they can get "lost" in the mix and end up dead or in jail. Like that poor schizophrenic guy that is due for execution in Bali any day now. He doesn't even know what is happening to him.
- Kristian Svk Somogyi I think that's basically the case with JA also, he's probably not aware of his issues.
- Richard Taylor I always thought he was a bit larger then life (not necessarily in a good way). Then I was on Bui Vien a few months back eating 10k bbq and cheap beers and lo and behold there he was with a young, 14-16ish, girl and a parent that was likely chaperoning.
- Tuan Huynh Hot is not an adjective that comes to mind when we talk about Oatmeal Bett LOL
- Elizabeth Homfray Those things never seem to go well for Joey A unfortunately Richard Taylor. He seems to engratiate himself with students parents and starts living with them, then has an episode and then ends up homeless again.
- Dan Kings Wow he's still around, amazing. The legend that is Oatmeal, he's a bit like herpes, annoying, impossible to get rid off and seems to come back just when you least expect him..
- Tuan Huynh Not sure but hes in Saigon against motor crime forum atm...
- Todd Anderson and he just got booted from Saigon teachers or so it appears.
- Jeremy Miller Kavit Matt has every right to express his views as you do and is no more trolling than you are. The guy obviously has mental health issues (but not to the point of being certifiable) and with the proper treatment could probably manage his life better and get along with others better but there are some people who don't like what medication does to them. My guess is that he either doesn't want to be medicated or prefers to be here (where proper treatment is not likely available to him) or both. I don't think it's right to assume the worst about people based on their children. I've seen online posts by his mother and brother and they seem pretty normal. There is no evidence whatsoever - not a single shred - to suggest that he is a pedophile or a child molester so it's ridiculous to allege that. I personally agree with Matt that some of the comments amount to bullying.
The truth of the matter is that a lot of you get enjoyment out of talking about him, posting his videos etc. That's why you do it. I will admit that I occasionally find his antics amusing myself (but I'd like to think I'm laughing with him rather than at him, yes he can be annoying but I really don't think it's his fault and quite frankly I don't think he's really a bad guy). I mean who can forget the timeless classic "The Kangaroo English Club Wants to Have Sex with Me." (besides that guy seemed worth trolling, he was one of many who claimed to have been in contact with the authorities trying to get Joey kicked out of the country).
BTW was it this group in which he won the tie contest? I never got to see the conclusion. Did he get his tie? - Kavit Tural Sumud I have no problem with his views. He's just using a very common troll derailing method over and over which is boring and means nothing he says is serious. Learn 2 Internet thread, Jeremy.
- Jeremy Miller I've read all of Matt's comments Kavit and I don't see it so we'll have to agree to disagree.
- Tuan Huynh Jeremy Miller LOL Yes I do hear you but I dont think is bullying because you did not have the pleasure to add him like i did...smile emoticon BTW have you taken over the mantra where David Lyons left off?...posting an over long thesis over Oatmeal I would say is a waste of space and energy wink emoticon
- Kavit Tural Sumud It involves cherry picking bits and pieces out of every comment, twisting it around to change the subject to something slightly ridiculous, and then feigning some investment in it all. It's an effective trolling way to derail, but only when used sparingly--not every comment like he is.
- Jeremy Miller "I was surprised the U.S. embassy hadn't scooped him up."
On what grounds? I can see from your comments that you have compassion for him but the U.S. Embassy doesn't have the authority to round people up for being annoying. A lot of us would be in trouble if they did. - Jeremy Miller "BTW have you taken over the mantra where David Lyons left off?..."
I don't think I can aspire to a David Lyons level of posting but I does what I can... - Tuan Huynh you are getting there...let me total your word counts tongue emoticon
- Kavit Tural Sumud That's because you're not inspired by the lustful energy and sugar rush one gets by being obsessed with KPOP Jeremy.
- Tuan Huynh Kavit you are so uncool..I love Sugar Rush!!! smile emoticonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wSQ5s2PEHcMovie: Wreck it Ralph Game: Sugar Rush...YOUTUBE.COM
- Matt Windom I promised not to post again but since I've been mentioned... Just because this is a tactic you are versed in Kavit Tural Sumud it doesn't mean others are...or even aware of it. You're trolling knowledge is to be respected and defered to I'm sure, but being a troll isn't what all of us aspire to
- Kavit Tural Sumud Dude you do it every thread. Just be a proud little troll with your methodologies, Matt. You're not dealing with amateur trolls round these parts.
- Kavit Tural Sumud lol, i had no idea that was a band name. Just was imagining sugar flying out of the anus of the kpop singers, giving you a contact sugar high via listening. Which is how he could type so much.
- Jon Gilkison Oatmeal reminds me of a few different guys I used to know at a halfway house I volunteered at about 15 years ago. Mostly schizoaffective and borderline personality disorder issues.
- Matt Windom Le sigh... Really? Because I post so much in so many threads? As you like. Have fun with your assumptions, belittling remarks, and childishness
- Tanya Ginchitskaya Im wondering if any of you here have met him in real yet
- Scott Gelsthorpe Kavit Tural Sumud I know you think you know everything on the planet but I hate to break it to you that you don't. If you have worked with people who have tourettes, come back and have a conversation with me. If not, just stfu.
- Nhật Minh Đặng I met him in the 23 September park once.. he said whe is a guy who cares about others, and the incident in Circle K happened just because hekept asking the cashier what's wrong with her...
- Kavit Tural Sumud I explained directly why it was different Scott (in detailed fashion), you just threw a stupid as hell ad hominem attack out there that made as much since as literally ALL of your attempts to explain the English language do,. Which is not at all. I'll say it again: I really pity the poor education your students get from you.
And, yeah, I've worked with people with a number of disabilities, including psychological and developmentally disabled people; so how about you stfu, fool? Every time you show up the IQ in the room drops 20 points.
In American English: Zooey Deschanel is spastic and may randomly shout things because of it, someone with Tourrette's has a compulsory need to do so. Those are different, dipface. - David Carroll Yes, I've met him. Or rather listened to him give free English lessons at a park. He seems far more "normal" then in his videos. He had a bigger group of students compared to the other "teachers" nearby giving free lessons. That says a lot. Many of those other teachers seem to have ulterior motives.
- Todd Anderson So when he was giving "free" English lessons, they were free, he wasn't trying to recruit people to go to a training center?
- Troy Sincock I've seen him back on expat sites for a fair while just liking comments. Let it be and move on with your life
- Todd Anderson So do people really go to the parks and give "free" English lessons just to recruit unsuspecting people to sign up for English lessons at their respective training centers? If so, do they hide their printed material and show it to the people at the end of the "free" lesson?
- David Carroll Todd: he was at the park on PNL about 3 months ago. I didn't hear him try to sell any school. There's quite a few other people giving free lessons there (including me, occasionally). Basically, what most of these guys do is talk and tell stories. Needless to say, Joey had some interesting stories that had his students captivated.
- Todd Anderson David, I was probing the ulterior motive, if any. Not by JA
- David Carroll Todd: Yes, there's quite a few regulars at that park that give free English lessons with no strings attached. Usually those guys sit on the very long planter that will accommodate a crowd. The guys that "teach" for free but seem to be there to hook up, tend to sit on the benches.
- David Carroll They're at the end section of the park that's near McDonald's.
- Tanya Ginchitskaya i saw he rent a place in d1 to make some classes and he has his own assistant. He made a whole timetable for it so i supposed he got his own business
- Todd Anderson As Tuan Huynh asked before, Is it madness or is it genius?
- David Carroll He should write children's books. Or produce children's tv shows. He's definitely different and very creative. One thing he has over many other teachers is that his students find him interesting.
- Kavit Tural Sumud ^that's true. Most ESL teachers I've met here are about as interesting as lint sitting on a stale bagel.
- Tanya Ginchitskaya i met him in person but i didnt really listen to what he said,he spoke to my friend mostly.I can tell what he said it didn't show me that he has mentally disoder but i can feel he's totally a freeloader(even more than that) and i was surprised how can he live here for whole year( by the time i know him) without job without money. He told us he exchanged a place to live for 10$/month by teaching his roomates English,he didn't need to pay for any money(food,drinks,etc....) cuz he expects people will do that( thats what he said not my opinion)
- Todd Anderson He has a place in the world but may just may need some guidance.
- Tanya Ginchitskaya he said his University recommended him to move over here and guaranteed to him they would find him a job,his dad took all the money to help him for that.
- David Carroll He's been in Saigon at least 3 years. I remember the drama where his students had to pay for his food, back in the "Oatmeal" era. He really reminds me of Tim Burton (eccentric film director) in the way he talks, acts and even the unkept hair.
- Tanya Ginchitskaya why American embassy doesnt give a shit about this even somebody complaint about him already
- Tanya Ginchitskaya how can he extend the visa if he doesn't have money
- Todd Anderson The US embassy will be concerned if he's locked up or he goes there.
- Kristian Svk Somogyi well, as stated above he's an Elnglish teachng freeloader, I'm sure he can come up with an occasional few hundred $ to get a new visa. Or perhaps he's here illegally.
- David Carroll Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare before Christmas - insanely creative movie classics by Tim Burton. I think whatever makes Tim tick, Joey has that in spades. I think Joey has some untapped potential.
- Todd Anderson Tanya, did you ever here stories about parents who pay money to keep their children away from them?
- Tanya Ginchitskaya lollll No but now i see thats why even his family doesnt give a shit about it
- David Carroll Here's Joey's long lost brother...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btg0VYDiQ3Q...Taken from MTV's 'Freaks, Nerds, and Weirdos' special. Sep 09, 1994.YOUTUBE.COM
- Tanya Ginchitskaya Oh he made a video to talk about me as well but its been too long so i don't remember
- David Carroll Joey giving love advice for the men...classic! Wish I had time to find his dance video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txUBV5hRPHc...If you're male, there are three things you...YOUTUBE.COM
- Nam Nguyen Would like to ask why you support such a bad status, Todd Anderson
- Tuan Huynh Yep do tell us the reason but i do get worried about me too...Nam Nguyen
- Todd Anderson If this Joey guy just needs a little guidance then okay. He may very well be off and does need medicine but it doesn't look to me as if he has harmed anyone physically. David had a good point about Tim Burton, and Tuan had a good question, Is it madness or genius?
- Tuan Huynh Because I'm Bad, I'm Bad-
Come On
(Bad Bad-Really, Really Bad)
You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad-
You Know It
(Bad Bad-Really, Really Bad)
You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad-
Come On, You Know
(Bad Bad-Really, Really Bad)
And The Whole World Has To
Answer Right Now
Just To Tell You Once Again,
Who's Bad . . Meeeee Thank you Nam Nguyen you make perfect sense smile emoticon - David Carroll At the very least, somebody should tell Joey to grow back his beard. He looked like a "normal" Bui Vien denizen back then.
- Tuan Huynh I think madness borderline genius...What a 'beautiful mind'...LOL
