Many Vietnamese tell me that the Vietnamese government lies to them about the history of Vietnam. They say that Vietnam defeated America, but America withdrew around 1973 and the North conquered Saigon in 1975 - Ted Pickett America did withdraw so the question you should ask is if the war was about defeating communism then why did the US leave? Answer: The war was never about that.
