  • Dominic Leyton Maybe when this taxi or whatever the service is, when it was booked over the telephone the English speaking person couldn't get themselves to be understood and they eventually gave up and said "Oh sod it!" (a common English expression depicting despair) before putting the phone down. The person taking the booking, who had been asking for a name in not very good English, panicked as they thought they had lost a booking. So instead of telling the boss they lost the booking and because they misheard 'oh sod it' they put two and two together and get five. 'Ah sodick! His name Sodick!' So, feeling relieved, they then printed up the name and sent some member of staff to the airport under strict instructions: "You go airport! Pick up Sodick! Take Sodick to hotel!" So maybe that woman has been there hours and she has already been on the phone to the office to say "Hey! I been here 2 hour already. Sodick doesn't come!" And still the booking person is going along with it. "What you mean Sodick no come?! Sodick come! You no worry. You just wait for Sodick,. Sodick soon come." etc etc.

  • Nadim Naccache yes Lan Truong its a big japanese manufacturer. Probably explains why they had girls in short shorts and high heels receive the distinguished guest(s) at the airport.

  • Dominic Leyton Maybe she is some man's girlfriend and he has caught her cheating on him so he has decided to humiliate her by getting her to stand in a public place taking about her sex life. The man decided she would be most humiliated at the airport as there are lots of people coming past so he made up a sign and decided to write the sign in English so more people would understand. What he wanted to have was his girlfriend standing there with a sign saying I'VE SUCKED SO MANY DICKS but his English is not so good, he didn't have a Eng/Viet Dictionary and he was in a really bad mood because of his girlfriend cheating on him so he didn't have the patience to look up the correct English. So he just wrote as best as he could 'sodick' and he couldn't remember if it is Suck or Suk so in fact his girlfriend is standing there saying "I SUCK!" and then making a gesture with the sign so people hear "I SUCK" and then read sodick! etc etc

  • Dominic Leyton Or maybe there really is someone in the world with the very unfortunate sounding surname of 'Sodick' and it just so happens that Mr.Sodick himself is arriving in Saigon today and he has booked a cab in his surname! And why should he use a fake name just because he has a very unfortunate sounding surname? As Mr.Sodick will tell you himself, "I am very proud of my surname. My name is Mister John Sodick! Why do you find that funny? Huh?! I am Sodick and so what!"

When they get to the woman who is waiting for them with the sodick sign the father will say "Hey, its Sodick with a capital S god damn it! And it's Mr Willy Sodick, not just my surname with a small S. How rude!" I am Mister Willy Sodick from Washington State, god damn it! And this is my wife, Sally Sodick! And this is my son, Willy Sodick The Second! Oh and this is my daughter, Vagina." "Vagina?!" "Yeah, Vagina Sodick! You gotta a problem with that?!" "No. No problem. We go taxi now. Follow me please." And Mister Sodick will boom at his family. "Okay Sodicks! Let's vacation!" Woooo! Sodick's on tour!

  • Dominic Leyton The Sodicks will be getting in the way of passing traffic outside Reunification Palace at about 10am tomorrow morning should you want to meet them. Little Willy Sodick (Or 'Number Two' as his pop likes to call him) is particularly eager to purchase some low grade marijuana at an extortionate price of a Xe Om driver so perhaps someone could point the entitled little fatty in the right direction? Also Mr Willy and Susan Sodick are planning on going out for dinner tonight as Willy has his heart set on getting his wife drunk and cashing in one of his bi-annual blow job tickets. He usually cashes his tickets on his birthday and Christmas Eve so I hope Sue Sodick has her Peppermint Mouthwash packed or she's not going to be a happy bunny! Willy has booked a table for two for 8pm at Cham Charm on Nguyen Du Street so, god damn, he better be getting some after dinner good times after maxing out his American Express in that joint. This means Little Willy and Vagina will be off the lead in Saigon (they have promised to stay in their hotel room but they almost certainly won't). So if Number Two and Vajazzle aren't ashen white and zombiefied from the stick and stem garbage Little Willy paid half a million Dong for outside Reunification Palace would it be possible if someone could do some subvert babysitting when they wobble up and down Bui Vien? Just keep an eye out for them and make sure they don't have any ice in their beers as Sue Sodick is worried about food poisoning by ice resulting in a fatality (or even worse the chronic shits the next day.) Big Willy S and Sue would be so grateful if any of you kind ex-pats (who are well known for their kindness and generosity) could keep an eye out for the kids. It will only be for tonight. The Sodicks are flying to Nha Trang tomorrow. Thanks for reading and have a good night folks.

  • Lan Truong Kris, Dominic used to be patient to explain me some English words. 
    To be honest, one of the words I asked him is "c*nt" which I picked from comments on ASOV;
    And like his above examples, Dom gave me some cases of examples which could bring to different meanings that I could use to English people!

    He did that for nothing for him. 
    I should post him an email so that he could get back on this post.

    I'm such kind of a very lucky person I have some very good friends here!

  • Adam Edermo Let's downtone the whole oatmeal thing ladies and gentlemen. I have blocked him from the group long ago and it is rather cruel to pick on someone who can't reply. Also remarks are typically focused on his physical appearance, not classy ASOV, just sodick!
